Get to know our intern of the week, Akash Prasad!
Akash is from Kennesaw, Georgia, and is interning with Narwhal Capital Management all summer long. He was drawn to Narwhal because he wanted to learn more about the finance field and gain real world experience. Through the internship, Akash hopes to learn more about value investments and how to assess different companies to find whether or not they are worth the investment.
When asked what he likes most about working for Narwhal so far, Akash replied, “the office environment. Everyone is super welcoming, and no one makes me feel like a young, high school kid.” Every morning Akash helps draft the pre-market email that is sent to all of Narwhal’s portfolio managers. He also updates them throughout the day on aspects of their specific accounts as well as other office happenings. Akash’s job helps unify the actions of the firm, so that it can serve its clients more efficiently.
Akash’s favorite part of investment management is helping clients do more with their money. He said, “investing is important to fuel economic growth, and I like being part of an industry that connects investors to people who need investments.”
When he’s not working, Akash enjoys running outdoors as a means of personal fitness as well as enjoying time to himself. “It’s great to wake up at 6 a.m. every morning to go on a run before work,” he told us. Akash graduated this spring from Kennesaw High School and is attending Georgia Tech in the fall. He plans to pursue a double major in mathematics and business with a focus in statistics and finance respectively.
