Melissa is originally from LaGrange, Georgia, and graduated from the University of Georgia with a bachelor’s degree in consumer economics and a master’s degree in financial planning. Prior to this position, Melissa was a kick-boxing instructor while in school.
She started working as a financial planning associate at Narwhal Capital Management this summer and was attracted to Narwhal because the firm uses holistic financial planning to further the goals and needs of its clients. Melissa also loves the focus Narwhal puts on working with millennials.
Currently, Melissa is working on implementing new financial planning software to help increase the success of NCM’s client base. Melissa is already feeling settled in at Narwhal. She says this is because she, “is comfortable in this new work environment, which, when starting a job right out of school, is usually difficult.” The thing she enjoys most about working at Narwhal so far is that, “everyone’s opinion matters, regardless of their age or length of employment.”
Since moving to Atlanta, Melissa has enjoyed adventuring down the Beltline with friends and visiting breweries in the area. “As granola as it sounds, I love being outside,” she explained. Melissa is also a self-proclaimed foodie and enjoys checking out all of the different cuisines Atlanta has to offer.
